Milan – Dep Art Gallery

Dep Art Gallery is set in a former nursery school, which needed renovations to make it fit for the exhibitions that are currently housed there. The project included the redevelopment of the building envolope, the redistribution of the masses and a better usability of the exhibitions rooms. The discussion with both the gallery’s owner and the artists themselves led to the installment of some flush to the wall devices, which are able to rotate. Such a rotation helps modify the distribution and the intensity of the light, which can therefore be customized for any artwork in the gallery.  The lighting system combines natural and artificial light in the streaks of light and wall washer spotlights, which work together to enhance both the artworks and the volumes.
